The Form 3 final oral exam has two parts. Each is worth 50 marks.

Part 1is the READING SECTION.

It is worth 50 marks. Students will choose one of the three reading selections to read aloud in front of the teacher. The readings are written below for your reference. Recordings of the poems will be available on-line for students to listen to and help students practice their pronunciation. The teacher will mark the student based on many things. To score well a student should read loudly, clearly and fluently. Try to read with expression and feeling and add gestures if appropriate. Watch your pronunciation and don’t read too quickly.

The choices are:         A) My Pet Mouse

Part 2 is the SHORT PRESENTATION SECTION.

It is worth 50 marks. Students will be given a topic and asked to make a short (1-1.5 minute) presentation on that topic.  The student will be given his topic and 5 minutes to prepare for the presentation in a waiting room before the oral exam. The student will be given a blank piece of paper and may make notes to help him with his presentation. However, the student should remember not to just read his notes during the presentation. After the presentation the teacher may ask one or two short follow up questions.

The topics will be chosen from the unit themes from the text which they studied this year. Students should give their presentation in full sentences with good pronunciation. Creative and interesting presentations with examples and personal feelings or opinions are encouraged. Students should watch their pronunciation, fluency and accuracy as well.

For review, students should study Units 1-5 in the text and think about things which could be discussed and specific examples and ideas. The students will not know the specific topic before but the themes from Unit 1-5 can be used to help study and prepare for the oral exam.

UNIT 1: World Travellers      UNIT 2: Crime     UNIT 3:  Superstitions     UNIT 4: Movies     UNIT 5:  Anti-Piracy
